Beta Theta Pi
Gentlemen.
Beta Theta Pi, often referred to simply as “Beta,” is a fraternity dedicated to building Men of Principle for a principled life. Our brotherhood aids the individual, builds the Fraternity and strengthens the host academic institution through lifelong devotion to intellectual excellence, high standards of moral conduct and responsible citizenship. All members share the common belief in mutual assistance in the honorable labors and aspirations of life, devotion to the cultivation of the intellect, unsullied friendship and unfaltering fidelity. This lasting bond of friendship is cultivated by being a part of a group of individuals who share the same goals and values, constantly supporting each other in the pursuit of social, moral and cultural excellence.
Beta Theta Pi is an organization committed to developing its members into gentlemen who give back to the community. Each semester, brothers are strongly encouraged to participate in community service activities, both on and off-campus, including Beta Theta Pi’s annual Beta 4-Square Tournament.
Leaders.
Each and every brother in Beta Theta Pi is committed to being an active participant in the Washington University community. We currently have brothers involved in Student Union, Residential Life, Freshmen Orientation, Tutoring, and the Gephardt Institute for Public Service, as well as many other campus organizations and initiatives. Beta Theta Pi brothers have also started a number of organizations at Washington University, including Controversy N’ Coffee, a program where students are invited to participate in healthy discussion with distinguished professors and members of the community about controversial topics. Beta Theta Pi commits itself to developing our members into leaders on the Washington University campus through extensive campus involvement.
Brothers.
The strength of our organization lies in its brotherhood—an undying commitment to the members of the chapter. Members promote the academic and social achievements of their brothers through friendship and mentoring. Beta Theta Pi also hosts a number of fun social events, including Beta’s annual Beta Bubbles party, an alcohol-free foam party. Betas are also invited to attend one of the many leadership and development opportunities during the summer. Beta Theta Pi also builds brotherhood through its participation in Washington University’s annual Thurtene Carnival where members of the Greek community fundraise for a local St. Louis charity through games, food, and fun play productions.
